🏨 Where should I stay?
· In Athens - For those wanting to explore the city, we recommend staying in central Athens, just a short drive from the venue. It offers a variety of accommodations and easy access to historical sites like the Acropolis and Plaka.
· Near the Venue - If you’d prefer to stay closer to Pyrgos Melissourgou, there are hotels and guesthouses nearby. Note that a car rental may be needed to reach the venue and explore the coast.
· Note: Sharn has put together a list of recommended accommodations and neighborhoods in her Google document - feel free to consult her before booking!
🚌 How do I get to the wedding venue?
· For out-of-town guests, we will provide transportation to and from the wedding venue, including pick-up from central Athens. More details on pick-up locations and times will be shared closer to the wedding date. If you prefer, you can also take a taxi.
· For those who choose to drive, the venue offers ample parking, and directions will be provided.
🛬 What is the best airport to fly into?
· The best airport to fly into is Eleftherios Venizelos in Athens - it’s the only international airport in the city and super easy to get to.
🚕 What’s the best way to get into Athens from the airport?
· Car Service - Book a car service in advance to be ready for your arrival. Sharn's friend, Debbie, can organize this for you so it's less stressful when arriving (info@opatours.com, or whatsapp +30 694 7465880).
· Yellow Taxi - Grab one from the taxi line right outside the terminal.
· Uber or Free Now - Download the local cab apps, and order a ride once you exit the airport.
· Metro - A more budget-friendly option if you’re traveling light.
· We recommend using Uber or Free Now - just book your ride via the app when you exit to avoid any language barriers and have a very easy trip after a long flight.
✈️ What are some tips for flying from the USA to Greece?
· Direct Flights - If possible, we recommend booking a direct flight to Greece for a smoother and quicker journey. Popular airlines like United, Delta, and Emirates offer direct flights to Greece. Some friends have also flown with Norse, a new budget-friendly airline, and really enjoyed it!
· Layovers - If direct flights aren’t available or are too expensive, flights with layovers are a great alternative. They often offer more flexibility in terms of schedule and pricing, making them a good option if you're looking to save or need more flight choices.
🪪 Are there visas requirements from the USA?
There is a potential for visa requirements for travelers from the USA beginning in 2025. Sharn is watching this space but we recommend checking the latest travel advisories and visa regulations before your trip to ensure you have the necessary documentation
🛂 Any passport requirements from the USA?
You will need a passport. Some countries require that your passport have at least six months of validity beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met. More info here from the US Embassy in Greece and here but a friendly reminder to check the expiration dates and ensure you have ample time.
